Offsets Created Through Carbon Sequestration
- Geologic Sequestration - Capturing CO2 that would otherwise be vented to the atmosphere and injecting it instead into crude production fields for Enhanced Oil Recovery, depleted hydrocarbon reservoirs, geologic domes or saline aquifers. This anthropogenic CO2 is generated from fossil fuel combustion, removed during natural gas treating, sourced from the production of ethanol or fertilizer products or sourced from crude oil refining.
- Biological Sequestration - Enhancing absorption of carbon dioxide through photosynthetic processes in plants and trees by means of forest management, avoided deforestation/preservation, afforestation and reforestation, cropland management, or grazing land management.
