Offsets Created Through Landfill Gas Collection Projects
Blue Source has substantial experience in creating and monetizing Verified Emission Reduction (VER) credits from landfill gas collection and utilization projects. Blue Source works with landfills that have qualifying collection systems to determine the most effective way to create the highest quality, most valuable VER credits. Blue Source then markets the VER credits to buyers and secures the highest price possible. Blue Source covers upfront project development and marketing costs and receives compensation of such costs through the sale of the project’s VER credits. As a result, Blue Source and the landfill owner’s interests are aligned to create the highest value VER credits and sell them at the highest price.
With a commitment of $500 million provided by affiliate investment funds of strategic partner Och-Ziff Capital Management, Blue Source has the capacity to develop landfill gas collection and utilization systems on qualified landfills at no cost to the landfill owner. Blue Source recovers its investment through the marketing of the project’s VER credits and, when feasible, developing a beneficial use project which can replace the burning of fossil fuel and reduce on-site energy costs or generate an additional revenue stream for the landfill owner.
